Enforce the Consumer Rights Act to protect music, arts and sport fans from touts
It’s not music, arts and sports businesses that are being ripped-off by ticket touts and associated websites it’s the fans. We demand the Government enforces last year’s ticket resale amendment to the Consumer Rights Act, and also requires ticket resellers to reveal their identities.
Music, arts and sports fans should be able to buy tickets at the prices that artistes and event organisers choose, not what the profiteers can extract from people.Robust action from the Government would also curtail a practice that deprives the Treasury of VAT.Ticket prices are set so the broadest spread of people can attend events, not just the wealthiest. Anonymous profiteers acquiring tickets and reselling them at huge mark-ups are distorting what should be a free and transparent marketplace.
