Employers must offer Part Time and Job Share Professional Level work to women.
After having a child many women are often unable to return to their profession as only full time work is available and they want the option to work part time for a variety of reasons.
The law needs to change so large employers have to offer professional level part time or job share work.
This will benefit employers, who will have invested in training women, to utilise their skills for much longer. There will be a more gender balanced workforce which has many advantages.
The public sector offers many such opportunities (e.g. for teachers and doctors) but they are very rare in the private sector which is why the law needs to change.
We understand and acknowledge that some roles can't be done part time or as a jobs share, but we believe a large proportion can.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition in its current form as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament. In the UK workers already have the right to request flexible working, this includes requesting part time roles and job sharing. You can find out more about the right to request flexible working here: http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1616
If you would like a specific change to the law in this area, you could start a new petition asking for that.
