Acknowledge emotional support animals as service dogs in the UK.
In the USA, emotional support animals are a growing practice, with many mental health patients able to survive without the worries of medical bills and therapy sessions. Bringing this to the UK would potentially alleviate the pressure on our mental health system, and allow patients' independence.
According to research, mental health issues in the UK are steadily rising, with mental health services struggling to keep up with the demand, meaning that increasing numbers of people are forced to wait months for support which often needs to be revisited at a later date. An emotional support animal can provide long-term support and will cost the NHS less to support.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition in its current form as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament. You could start a petition which clearly outlines what action you would like the UK Government and Parliament to take.
You could start a new petition calling for NHS funding for emotional support animals, fi that is what you want to happen.
