Petition Action

No Public Sector employee to be paid more than 90% of the Prime Ministers wage.

Petition Details

The UK Prime Minister should be the highest paid Public Sector employee. Councils and Health Authorities are routinely awarding staff salaries far in excess of a reasonable reward. It is untrue that high salaries bring greater competence.

Additional Information

All new Public Sector appointments should be wage capped. Existing employees should have their salaries reduced over a four year period.

If we are 'all in this together' and austerity is essential for our survival then a Public Sector employee should not be a drain on our resources. It is inconceivable we cannot employ talented and conciousness staff without paying excessive salaries.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government and Parliament aren't responsible for decisions about all public sector pay. If you would like the law to be changed, so that no public sector employee can be paid more than 90% of the Prime Minister's salary, you could start a new petition calling for that.
