Petition Action

Address inequalities within the insurance industry against those living with HIV

Petition Details

There still exists an issue for people with HIV in receiving some types of insurance cover. While some companies now provide such items as travel insurance, most widely refuse to provide life insurance etc and when providing travel cover charge an astronomical price compared to the standard.

Additional Information

Evidence is based on the refusal of several UK based insurance companies to provide me with cover due to my HIV status.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.
At the moment, this is a decision for insurance companies. You could start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to make it illegal for insurance companies to discriminate against people who are living with HIV.
