We call upon the Secretary of State for Health to define "A Seven Day NHS"

Petition Details

In addition,to state whether it is Minister's intentions to increase the work force by the 20-40% necessary to achieve a "A Seven Day NHS",the size of increase depending on the definition offered. Or to simply shift staff from one time frame to another, thereby degrading the whole service?

Additional Information

For many months now, various senior government members have trotted out the phrase "A Seven Day NHS" without defining their intentions. Do they mean emergency cover at all times? Do they mean enhancing the current emergency cover by increasing diagnostic and other services out of hours? Or do they mean elective services seven days a week?
Each model implies a very different requirement for staffing, and associated funding.
We call upon the Minister to set out this Governments plans in detail.
