Consult the electorate on the creation on new Unitary Authorities in Oxfordshire
In Oxfordshire the County, District and City Councils have proposed different options for new Unitary Authorities to replace the existing local government structure. However, neither the County nor the Districts are proposing to give the electorate a say on which options the electorate wants.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
At the moment, it is up to the local councils to decide whether they wish to consult local people on this. You could raise this issue with your local councillor, or petition your local council.
Parliament could change the law, to require any local council to hold a referendum on any proposal to create a unitary authority. If that's what you want to happen, you could start a new petition asking for that change.
