Petition Action

Do not allow the Monarchy to discriminate against religion.

Petition Details

The Succession to the Crown Act 2013 allowed those in line to the throne to marry those of the Roman Catholic faith but the monarch is still required to be Anglican. I feel that we should remove this requirement as it discriminates against religion and has no place in a modern nation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

You could start a new petition asking Parliament to change the law, so that there is no requirement for the Monarch to be Anglican.
