Stop plans to remove all recipes from the BBC website

Petition Details

The BBC announced on May 17 2016 that its popular BBC Food website was to close and an 11,000 archive of recipes would be removed. This is an important reference, historical or otherwise, for cooks everywhere and removing it would be a waste of time, money and effort already spent.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This decision is the responsibility of the BBC. The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
