Petition Action

Keep ALL BBC food recipes: they belong to & enhance the nation's well-being.

Petition Details

The 11,000+ food recipes on the BBC website are to be removed.
They are a national resource: they belong to the nation and contribute to the nation's well-being.

Additional Information

Cost is NOT an issue. The cost of not removing them will be negligable if there is no further maintenance. The cost of maintaining this resource will be far less than the quoted £15m. If this is an issue then put this out to public tender: there will be many British software developers who will maintain this for far less.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This decision is the responsibility of the BBC. The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.

You could start a petition calling on the Government not to make cuts to the BBC's funding.
