Release all recipes within the BBC database under a Creative Commons licence
The BBC states that recipes will be mothballed or only available for 30 days. Instead of losing this valuable resource, funded by everyone of us, release the imagery and recipes under a Creative Commons licence thus ensuring that, at no further cost to the BBC, they can continue to be enjoyed.
This data is ours, paid for by us - let us use it.
Creative Commons helps you share your knowledge and creativity with the world. http://creativecommons.org
Much Government based data has been made available in recent years under the Open Data framework. Ordnance Survey is a great example of how data can be used and released for use in private and commercial enterprise.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
This decision is the responsibility of the BBC. The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
