To prevent politicians deceiving the UK population by campaigning one way but voting another.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

At the moment, this would be a personal decision for individual MPs.

If you would like Parliament to change the law, to require the votes of MPs to be published, you could start a new petition asking for that. It is worth noting that there is now very little time left for the law to be changed before the referendum on 23 June.
