Provide access to NHS prescriptions for adults diagnosed privately with ADHD
Adult ADHD treatments and knowledge in the NHS is poor. Adults are descriminated against, even though they make it cheaper for the NHS. The NHS will not prescribed ADHD medication via a shared care agreement between an NHS GP and a private psychiatrist.
Diagnosis and treatment of adult ADHD is not as effective. The NHS is unable to provide adequate resources to manage ADHD.If the NHS had effective methods of diagnosing adult ADHD, and the specialists required then many would have their medications prescribed by the NHS, however this is not he case. Many are forced to go private and when a shared care agreement is requested they decline it. The guidance (GMC, NICE and BMA) does not state that the private consultant had to be NHS, just qualified.
