Care homes to be required by law to provide Mario Kart gaming for residents.

Petition Details

This petition was started by a medical student who recently attended an Elderly Medicine placement in Derbyshire. In many Local Authority owned care homes, residents would be sat passively in front of the lounge television screen. Residents may enjoy a competitive, interactive activity instead.

Additional Information

"When groups of generally healthy medical patients aged 50 and over were instructed to play a video game that increased in difficulty and complexity with each new level, researchers at the University of Iowa found that they gained years of cognitive processing improvement after one year of play."
