Petition Action

Allow 12-18 year old children to have a 'half' vote in elections.

Petition Details

Young people are currently not allowed to vote in local and general elections despite being likely to be the most affected by political decisions.
Encouraging young people to engage in politics early may lead to a more active lifetime engagement in public life.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear what you mean by a "half" vote, or how this would work. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take.
