Nominate Bernard Kenny for the award of the George Cross.
During the violent and murderous attack on MP Jo Cox, 77-year old Bernard Kenny risked his own life to try and defend her. During the struggle, Bernard was stabbed in the abdomen with a ten inch knife receiving a wound to his liver and suffering life-threatening injuries.
We petition the government to give immediate and favourable consideration to nominating Bernard Kenny as a prospective recipient of the George Cross. His actions typically exemplify the spirit of the award and easily meet the criteria for which the award is given: “...acts of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger”.
