Allow London to vote on leaving the UK to become an independent city state
London voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU, including a majority for remain in all but five of its boroughs. Londoners feel part of a global community that values openness and inclusivity above petty nationalism and isolationism. Independence would allow London to achieve its true potential.
London's net contribution to the UK is £34bn. This money could be used for housing, the NHS and education, helping bridge obvious defects in the city's current infrastructure.
An open city, trading with the world and with free movement of people to come and work will quickly make London the world's greatest city, with low taxes, a high quality of life and the chance to be part of the global community again.
