Referendum on our 'exit agreement' with the European Union before we leave
We voted to leave the European Union without a clear prospectus of what future arrangements we shall have with the EU.
Before our withdrawal from the EU is finalised, Parliament must put the terms of our future relationship to a referendum.
Various models have been proposed for Britain's future relationship with the EU, including those based on Canada, Norway and Switzerland. HM Government published a paper outlining some options: https://is.gd/vUXi9d
There is no clarity as to what type of relationship would command public support. A referendum would force politicians to have a more open debate about considerations such as future access to the Single Market. This may help achieve a consensus and heal divisions in our country.
