Make it illegal to purposefully mislead voters in campaign adverts & literature
The EU referendum has proven that politicians cannot be trusted to tell the truth or represent the truth if it means they might lose the fight.
How can voters make responsible decisions without the facts?
Why would politicians speak clearly and openly if the law does not force them to do so?
Why do we hold commercial advertising to a higher standard than political advertising?
It is outside the remit of the Advertising Standards Agency to oversee political adverts (https://www.asa.org.uk/News-resources/Media-Centre/2016/Political-advertising-complaints.aspx#.V23MyPR4XCQ)
