Petition Action

Make voting compulsory

Petition Details

Ask parliament to discuss making voting compulsory, similar to the Australian system, to ensure all persons & groups are represented fairly in future votes.

With compulsory voting, a supermajority could be required for issues such as referendums to ensure a true majority agree with the sentiment.

Additional Information

It took only 37% of the electorate and 27% of the UK population to initiate proceedings for the UK to leave the EU.

The consequences of such proceedings are far reaching, especially given that the vast majority of the UK electorate and population did not vote to leave the EU.
