Petition Action

Lower the voting age to 16

Petition Details

If 16 year olds are deemed mature enough to work, be taxed, get married and have children, then they should be deemed mature enough to vote.
Additionally, many 16 year olds study politics, business or citizenship, so may be more informed than some adults.
Let 16 year olds vote on their future.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
