Petition Action

Make unbiased Political Education a compulsory subject in British schools

Petition Details

We the British public request HM Government to make Political Education a compulsory subject in schools, like Religious Education, so that students have the necessary knowledge of our own political history and how our country is governed required to make informed decisions when they reach voting age

Additional Information

All aspects of politics should be covered within the teaching of Political Education, including but not limited to government structure and management, Britain's political history and relations, the main beliefs of the major political parties and knowledge of the First Past The Post voting system and other alternatives such as Proportional Representation. All teachers should be required to sign a declaration agreeing not to let their own political views influence the teaching of their classes.
