Petition Action

Lower the voting age to 16 for referendums that affect the future of the UK

Petition Details

I am 17 years old. The vote leave result will affect my generation and yet I was not allowed to vote. I propose that in any future referendum that affect the future of the UK all 16 and 17 year olds should be entitled to vote.

Additional Information

75% of 18-25 year olds voted remain in comparison to 39% of 65+
Surely this tells us the younger generation wants something different to the final result? In future, 16 and 17 year olds have a right to be consulted about our future; our voices should be heard: we must be allowed to vote.
