Call a general election prior to executing article 50 of the Lisbon treaty
The significant impact of the change in status of UK in Europe means the next steps must be taken by a democratically elected government with a clear plan and clear commitments. With the current government's aims severely compromised it can no longer claim to hold a mandate from British people.
The campaign, cross party in nature, exposed opposing views and shifts in direction throughout the parties. The significant and far reaching changes, policies, benefits, fiscal and budgetary impacts and opportunities identified during the campaign should be reflected in future plans.
The British people must now make an informed democratic choice to elect a government to ensure that the needs of the UK as a whole are addressed.
