REVIEW SENTENCES FOR FACEBOOK 2
We live in a democracy; we are justifiably proud of our tolerant society, a central pillar of which is free speech.
It's totally intolerable that two very young men have been sent to prison for very long sentences, simply because of the timing of their stupid remarks.
Quite apart from the financial implications of imprisoning young men as a knee-jerk reaction to the riots around the country, it is indefensible that they have received such draconian sentences when compared with the sentences handed out (a) to others who do literally incite riot and disorder and (b) others whose criminal offences are far more serious.
Free speech is our right - judges are not entitled to deprive us of it.
