Petition Action

To call 2nd EU Referendum - Voting age to have been lowered from 18 to 16.

Petition Details

We the undersigned call upon the Government to declare the European Union Referendum vote void, on the basis that voting age should have been lowered from 18 to 16, to include the voices of more our young people. The "Leave" vote affecting them so much more than it will the middle-aged generation.

Additional Information

The House of Commons blocked a move by the House of Lords to allow 16/17 year-olds to vote in the European Union membership referendum, bringing it into line with the Scottish independence vote.

MPs rejected the amendment to the European Union Referendum Bill that would have lowered the voting age from 18 to 16
