Petition Action

Campaign to provide greater safety awareness for cyclists

Additional Information

We want the Government to take Cycling safety more seriously so as to prevent the several thousand deaths and injuries on British roads each year.

This is to be achieved through bike safety awareness adverts on TV that give drivers a greater understanding of what it’s like to ride a bike on British roads.

Additionally, a policy of introducing bicycle use during driver learning would be implemented, so as to enhance the 'shared road' concept and improve driver awareness towards cyclists and other road users.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

Petitions have been made both in respect of driver awareness campaigns and bicycle use as a component of driver training.
