The UK should adopt a ‘Warrant of Fitness’ procedure for all commercial premises – similar to that which exists within Australia and New Zealand.
This will ensure that people working and entering premises know that, in seeing the certificate on the wall, they are entering a relatively safe building.
In the UK only lift and lifting systems + pressure systems are subject to periodic independent insurance inspectors.
In the UK organisations are still placing people at known risk because of poor management, inspection, maintenance and the lack defective equipment replacement
