Make political campaigning subject to Advertising Standard Authority rules.
Currently political advertising enjoys a unique exemption from Advertising Standards Authority regulation in that, unlike every other form advertising, there is no law or enforcing agency requiring them to tell the truth. This is damaging to democracy and needs to change.
See 'Political advertising' here:
https://www.asa.org.uk/Consumers/What-we-cover/Complaints-outside-remit.aspx
"For reasons of freedom of speech, we do not have remit over non-broadcast ads where the purpose of the ad is to persuade voters in a local, national or international electoral referendum. Complaints about political advertising should be made directly to the party responsible for that advertising."
