Amend the Human Rights Act to support informed public debate.
Only when we have a clear view of issues can we make informed choice, people cannot make functional choices when they do not know what they are choosing. It should be an offence for those in public office to provide misleading, inaccurate or untruthful information that obfuscates public debate.
I propose an additional article under the UK Human Rights Act which prevents the dumbing down and obfuscation of public debate. It is the duty of public servants to bring clarity and accuracy to public debate to establish objectives and clean information both pro and con. It should be an offence for those in public office to provide misleading, inaccurate or untruthful information that obfuscates public debate.
