Require a Parliamentary majority to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
We the undersigned ask for any decision to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to be debated in parliament and to require a parliamentary majority. With the decision having serious repercussions (especially for young people), the sensible route is not to invoke Article 50 too hastily.
With 48.1% of the electorate not in favour of leaving the European Union, with 3 million people signing a petition asking for another referendum, with evidence becoming apparent that people may have been knowingly misled about the EU, the minimum requirement is a parliamentary discussion about the implications.
