The government should call a General Election for the Autumn
Government policy was to remain in the EU and the result of the referendum is an expression of no confidence in that policy. There are now choices to be made and the government should seek a mandate from the people to guide negotiations.
There will be important decisions to be made as we look to negotiate an exit to the EU. An example might be should we revert to World Trade Organisation rules for trade with the EU or seek an agreement such as Norway has. An election will allow the parties to set out their choice of direction during these critical years and give the people an opportunity to make an informed choice .
