new petition for expats enfranchisement

Petition Details

The Brexit referendum has had huge repercussions not only in the UK but especially for expats. We are probably more affected than most. The law must be changed so those who have been living longer than fifteen years outside the UK have the right to vote. Our vote could have made a difference.

Additional Information

I believe many of those who voted for 'Leave' regret this. Not only has the future of young people been jeopardised, but the whole UK is about to disintegrate, and is heading for catastrophe. Yes, there's a lot wrong with Europe, but destruction of the UK is not the answer.
Our vote could have made a difference

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government has said that it does have plans to change this rule. It's therefore not clear what action you would like the Government to take that is different from what it is already doing.
