Criminalise provision of false or misleading information for a political vote

Petition Details

Given the recent outcome of the EU vote and the revelations that a number of key propaganda issues were based on false and/or erroneous information we believe that influencing a vote in this way should be a criminal offence.

Additional Information

Nigel Farage’s admission that it was a ‘mistake’ to say that £350 million given to the EU each week could be spent on the NHS despite adverts suggesting this, which undoubtedly influenced many people to vote to leave the EU.
Nigel Evans’ admission that immigration won't fall as promised when we leave the EU but that they would "look at it" going forward and controlling future immigration.
Also a claim that millions from Turkey would soon flood into Britain was incorrect and misleading
