To strengthen Sections 28 to 32 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Anti-Racism)
The result of the EU referendum has lead to incidents of racist abuse.
UK immigrants, residents, and foreign nationals would benefit from reassurance and the strengthening of protection at this time. The government have an opportunity to strengthen the sentencing powers in relation to racial crime.
In addition to a heightened period of public concern, tension, and political unrest; the tenor and rhetoric of the 'Leave campaign' in relation to immigration may result in a perception and presumption that the public airing of racist comments are an acceptable expression of views.
Evidence of some racist incidents can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/sarah.leblanc.718/media_set?set=a.10101369198638985.223406919&type=3
