Petition Action

Any post-Brexit deal between the UK and the EU to be approved by a UK Referendum

Petition Details

UK voted to leave the EU on 23/6/16
The UK government should agree future terms of engagement with the EU which reflect the diversity of UK opinion - The terms should require the approval of the UK parliament and be validated by a fresh UK referendum before becoming law

Additional Information

The vote to leave the EU passed by a very narrow majority and the future terms of engagement between UK and the EU have not been defined; although several options exist, depending on the degree of UK involvement in European institutions, such as the EEA and EFTA or if Freedom of Movement between the UK and EU can continue

The country is confused and divided over how to replace EU membership and any future arrangements should be acceptable to parliament and a majority of the UK population
