The U.K. government should NOT trigger Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon.
In order to leave the EU the UK Government must trigger Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon. Once this formal notification is given there is no way back and the U.K. could end up leaving the EU without any agreements in place and break up the United Kingdom.
The referendum result shows Scotland & Northern Ireland wish to remain in the EU & the consequence of the UK Government triggering Article 50 could be both Scotland and Northern Ireland holding their own referendums seeking independence from England and Wales spliting up the United Kingdom. This was not the intended outcome of the referendum and was not voted on.
It's now clear that many voters were badly or mis informed leading up to the referendum.
