No enactment into law of UK Referendum on EU before a General Election is held.
An unelected British Prime Minister lacking a legitimate popular mandate to govern Britain must hold a General Election to obtain a direct & conclusive popular mandate to do so. Until then he cannot officially invoke Art. 50 of the Treaty on EU to start the process of taking the UK out of the EU.
Supporting reasons:
• a brief, acrimonious, and misleading Referendum campaign;
• its close margin of victory;
• the deep divisions it brought to light across Britain;
• the strong reactions it triggered among EU citizens in Britain;
• the resignation of PM Cameron;
• the lack of democratic legitimacy of a future PM & Cabinet selected exclusively by Tory Party members; and
• the duty of a future British government to assume responsibility for the results and consequences of this referendum.
