Pass legislation requiring all citizens of voting age to vote at all elections.
The result of the national referendum on the question of leaving the E.U showed that only 37% of the population voted to leave. the time has come to avoid any doubt in matters of great importance to the nation.
Advocates of compulsory voting argue that decisions made by democratically elected governments are more legitimate when higher proportions of the population participate. Voting has an educational effect upon the citizens. Political parties can derive financial benefits from compulsory voting, since they do not have to spend resources convincing the electorate that it should in general turn out to vote.
