Petition Action

Employ an impartial body of experts to monitor all future political campaigning.

Petition Details

Make it law, for all future political elections and referendums, an independent body of experts, who can be petitioned by the public, must be employed to impartially monitor the debate with powers to demand the retraction of statements deemed non-factual, unsupported speculation or scaremongering.

Additional Information

The recent referendum showed both sides were not averse to saying anything and everything to win. The debate moved so far from what the vote was about, and what either side could honestly expect to achieve, the public, on the whole, were inexcusably misled.
We need an independent body consisting of a cross section of experts to impartially monitor this type of political campaigning with powers to challenge and demand retraction of unsubstantiated statements deemed non-factual by the group.
