Make the physically able earn their benefits
Those people who are on Jobseeker's Allowance or simply on the dole who are physically capable of working yet seemingly unable to get a job should be made to earn their benefits.
I would propose these people volunteer to work on farmland to help cultivate crops, help the disabled in the community, and help with city beautification and general clean up operations for at least 10 hours a week to earn their benefits. This small amount of working hours would not prevent them taking children to and from school, but would help them regain their work ethic, and ultimately lead to a more independent mindset for Britain's population.
I would not propose aiming this at single parents of under school-aged children unless free child care is made easily available.
