Media plurality and ownership regulation

Additional Information

Our politicians have been intimidated and controlled by the power of the Murdoch Media for decades.

But he is just an example of what the current laws allow. Things could get worse.

We need regulation that requires:

-No one person or company can control more than one newspaper or news channel.
-That media companies have stricter rules of corporate governance due to their importance to the public interest.
-That their be subsidies for charitable and trust ownership of media, again because of their importance to the public interest.
-That news outlets have a legal obligation to tell the truth as is best known, according to current scientific and factual knowledge.
-That an independent body be made to handle complaints of inaccuracy in the media and that they public censure outlets for misinformation. And measure the impartiality and accuracy of outlets and makes available that information to the public so that they can be conscientious consumers of information.
