Petition Action

Give "misleading the electorate" a special status in law

Petition Details

Misinformation from press and political figures destroys our democracy. Stating intentions with no actual intent, proposing plans foreseeably impossible to implement, and unachievable goals - all put an informed vote beyond the means of the electorate. We need to be able to trust what we hear.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what you mean by "a special status in law". Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly how you would like the law to be changed.
