Petition Action

Improve the security of this site to prevent fraudulent signatures.

Petition Details

The petition "EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum" has reached 3,952,097 signatures as I write this. However, it seems likely that it is going to be dismissed due to claims of false signatures added by automated bots, foreign nationals etc.

Additional Information

Removing signatures and discrediting petitions after the event is not a satisfactory solution. In fact, this only serves to undermine the credibility of this site and all the petitions people have created here.

I suggest one of the following solutions;

1) Make the site secure so that this situation does not happen again,
Or
2) Remove the site. If the signatures cannot be trusted, then petitions are worthless.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what specific measures you would like to be put in place. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like us to do.
