Petition Action

Our right as individuals to remain citizens of the EU community

Petition Details

We the undersigned wish to remain citizens of the European Union community. Furthermore any actions by the UK Government to rescind our membership conflicts with the sentiment of the European Convention of Human Rights, Articles 9, 11 and 17.

Additional Information

Article 17 says, 'No state group or person may engage in any activity aimed at the destruction of any rights or freedoms set forth herein.'
The EU represents a moral code of conduct between its constituent nations based on respect, consensus and compromise. The peace that has prevailed in Europe since the Second World War reflects a desire for cooperation over conflict. This achievement between 28 culturally and religiously diverse nations should be defended not taken for granted.
