Make mental illness and physical illness have seperate PIP/DWP assessments
Currently, those who apply for disability benefits for physical illness must use the same application as for mental illness. This means that people who suffer with physical disability may be completely denied benefits, or visaversa. Please change this so that they are seperate applications.
The awarding of disability benefits is done through a point based system which is concluded through written answers and assessment at interview level.
Questions include a variety of physical and mental health related questions. Thus, points system includes both types of disability. They are not seperate.
As a result, someone who suffers extremely from mental illness may be completely disregarded for benefits.
Please change this to allow disability benefit to be accessed by those who need it.
