Ensure that there is a full public debate before invoking EU Article 50.
It is already clear that key elements of the Vote Leave campaign (e.g divert £350m a week to the NHS, or stay in the Single Market while denying freedom of movement to EU citizens) are not achievable. The UK needs a full debate on the true options available before deciding to invoke Article 50.
Many of the options being discussed as a way of staying in the Single Market will result in the UK still making contributions to the EU and allowing free movement of people (that is, unrestricted immigration from within the EU), while obeying some EU laws.
We will then have many of the existing legal and financial obligations without the ability to influence them through EU membership.
We need a full public debate and if necessary a 2nd referendum before Article 50 is invoked.
