Block invocation of Article 50 of The Lisbon Treaty until trade deals are agreed
We call on parliament to block formal notification to the EU of the UK's intention to exit, until the such time as the UK has agreed in principle, through informal negotiation, mutually beneficial trade deals with three other major economies, for implementation immediately on exit from the EU.
There is no time limit for the UK to begin the process of exiting the EU.
We should not do so until it suits the best interests of the UK.
The EU will not discuss Brexit options without formal notification, so we should work within the EU until we are fully prepared to negotiate formally to leave.
Securing trade deals with others before negotiation with the EU will provide improved economic stability, strengthen our negotiating position with the EU & experienced for trade negotiators.
