Ban The Sale Of Cot Bumpers

Petition Details

As a Health Care Professional and more importantly a Mother, I am very upset and frustrated that Cot Bumpers are still able to be purchased in England. Cot Bumpers pose a serious risk to babies, they can attribute to infant death. Babies can become trapped, strangled or choke.

Additional Information

A recent study by Washington University School of Medicine, published 24 November 2015 in the Journal of Paediatrics found that 48 infant deaths from 1985-2012 were specifically attributed to cot bumpers. Also an additional 146 infants were involved in cot bumper incidents in which the babies nearly suffocated, choked or were strangled.

Therefore it is without doubt Cot Bumpers do pose a serious risk to babies.
