We need to have a parliamentary debate and vote before Article 50 is enacted.
We live in a parliamentary democracy which means that our parliament has Parliamentary Sovereignty, meaning that it is the supreme legal authority in the UK which can create or end any law. Parliament needs to decide the future of the UK for our democracy to work.
According to www.parliament.uk "Parliamentary sovereignty is a principle of the UK constitution. It makes Parliament the supreme legal authority in the UK, which can create or end any law. Generally, the courts cannot overrule its legislation and no Parliament can pass laws that future Parliaments cannot change. Parliamentary sovereignty is the most important part of the UK constitution." We voted LEAVE to protect our sovereignty, so we need to fully use it now in order to determine our futures.
